Thursfields Solicitors and Swedish bank Handelsbanken are helping to promote Mental Health Awareness Week in the Black Country later this month.

The companies, which both have branches in the Black Country, have organised a free breakfast meeting for young professionals in Stourbridge from 8.30am on Friday 18th May.

Shauna Halls, a trainee solicitor in Thursfields' Corporate & Commercial team, said: "We want to help destigmatise the subject of mental health and how this can affect people at work via stress.

"We thought that Mental Health Awareness Week would be a great opportunity to make young professionals more aware of these issues, helping them now and in the future to create a less stressful workplace for themselves and their colleagues."

The guest speaker at the event will be Mark Evans, marketing officer of local mental health charity Dudley Mind.

Mr Evans said: "I'll be giving Thursfields' and Handelsbanken's guests an overview of mental health and stress, explaining how this can be triggered at work.

"We're hoping this will lead to a greater awareness of mental health and stress, helping people to either avoid it or to understand what they can do to tackle it."

The event takes place from 8.30 to 10am at Dudley Mind's Food For Thought Café in the Carlisle Centre, Victoria Street, Stourbridge. All café proceeds usually go to the charity, but there will be free bacon sandwiches, tea and coffee at this event.
