Tipping The Balance

It seems the world has gone to pot.

As I write this… The US Election is well underway with a neck and neck race to the finish line. The UK Government is facing dissent in the ranks as Parliament votes on the UK’s proposed lockdown. Brexit is just around the corner and all we seem to have pinned down so far is a discount on soy sauce...

By the time you’re reading this, we’ll have a few answers - but one thing will still remain the same. Wherever I look there will be chaos, frustration and confrontation. And I don’t think there’s much anyone can do about it. There are stormy waters ahead so prepare your ship and get ready to sit it out.

But what does that mean?

Well, for me it means preparing my business, but most importantly I want to prepare my mind.

I recently watched the documentary “The Social Dilemma” on Netflix - I highly recommend it if you haven’t given it a watch yet. It highlights the key problems with social media, the way it’s currently used and how heavily it influences people’s thoughts, mindset and opinions. It made me think about what I’m constantly feeding my mind.

If I want to steer my business through these rough waters with success, I have to be in tip-top mental shape. I need mental clarity and focus, energy and an infallible positive mindset.

Now, I don’t know about you, but my social media has been full of arguments, opinions, fear, drama and negativity for quite some time now. The news is even worse.

If I’m feeding my mind a constant diet of negativity and fear, I’m going to feel deflated, uncertain and stressed.

So what’s the solution? A new mind diet.

After watching “The Social Dilemma”, I decided to cut out social media, reduce the time I spend reading the news and focus on putting more of the positive, productive input into my mind by listening to podcasts and reading books.

It’s only been a couple of weeks but already I feel happier, more focused and more in control of my mindset and business.

So, I want to hear from you. What do you do to protect yourself from the negative influence of the world? And how do you keep your mindset on point?
