Walsall College Commended for Golden Touch Across Walsall Communities

Walsall College has received a Walsall Works Gold Partner Award from Walsall Council.
Walsall College has struck gold after receiving a Walsall Works Award from Walsall Council.
The Gold Partner Award recognises their significant social impact on local jobseekers, along with their support for businesses recruiting and training staff.
The judging panel remarked that ‘Walsall Council have always had a strong working relationship with Walsall College and it is great to be able to acknowledge the impact that they make not just as an educator, but also as an employer.’.
James Norris, Assistant Principal for Commercial Development, said: “We’re grateful to Walsall Works for championing our initiatives to help jobseekers secure meaningful employment.
Driving prosperity through
Walsall is of the utmost importance to us - naturally we need people with the
right skills to action this and we’re proud to lead the way with this agenda.
“Walsall Works also commended us for promoting an
ethos of lifelong learning and professional development. This is something we encourage in every
learner whether an apprentice, full-time student or someone in the workplace –
including with our own staff. The impact
on individuals and the wider community can be seen far and wide.”
The 2019 Walsall Works Partner Awards aim to
recognise the positive difference that organisations make to people and
communities. Gold partners have demonstrated the and have excelled in helping
local communities and the borough’s most vulnerable groups to participate and
prosper in a range of activities.
Walsall College works with over 1,000 employers to provide apprenticeships, industry placements, workforce development and pre-employment training across Walsall and the wider region. It is also the biggest provider of skills for school leavers in the area.
