We're all working on our external goals

Success isn’t just about external goals — your inner mindset plays a huge role. Thoughts shape emotions, which drive actions and results. By working on limiting beliefs and emotional awareness, you can create clarity, improve performance and achieve more sustainable success.

Over the years, we’ve worked with many business owners and helped them with their sales objectives. During that time, alongside working with my own business and sales objectives, I worked with my inner state.

Everything we experience externally, we do so through our own inner world or state. And for most of us, we’re so focused on our outer experiences, and goals, that we don’t attend to the inner state.

This explains why sometimes people still feel unfulfilled or unhappy even when they reach their goals. If you’re not happy or fulfilled inside, you’re not likely to feel good even with goals being reached. Similarly, sometimes achieving goals proves elusive, and no matter how hard we strive and struggle, we just can’t seem to get where we want to go.

So what does working on the inside look like?

Thoughts create emotions. 90% of our operating system is our subconscious mind, which has been programmed by our childhood, formative years and the culture that we live in, by our own unique experiences. That programming lies below the surface, outside of our awareness, so we’re not always aware of what is driving us. Thoughts that arise from those programmes, create our emotions. Our thoughts and emotions cause us to act in certain ways.

There can be many limiting factors that are therefore blocking us from achieving our goals externally, but the limitations are inside us. Beliefs create neural pathways, in other words, things we’ve thought about over and over again, and this creates a pathway in our mind that’s then habitual.

Limitations are in our mind; beliefs can be changed. We can remove these limits and barriers to our success. And it starts with working with our emotions. Think of jumping in a muddy puddle and stirring it all up, the water is muddy and clouded. When our emotions come, we don’t have clarity necessarily, we have confusion. When we work with those emotions, knowing that they are not who we are, we can witness them, let them pass by, and then later clarity arrives. We can then act from a calm place, and doing this work starts to remove some of the limiting beliefs that we’re not always aware of.

The most transformative thing we can do in life is work on our inner state just as much as working on our external goals. Like riding a bike, we need to balance to move forward. If we balance the inner state with our outer world, doing the work daily, we can totally transform our experience.
