Truckman, the UK’s leading manufacturer and distributor of 4x4 vehicle accessories, is helping charity Community Connect Foundation (CCF) to raise awareness of health issues with its £2,500 sponsorship of two new boats.

The donation from Truckman has enabled CCF to purchase two new bell boats to help encourage people from disadvantaged communities to participate in water sports. The bell boats will be used for paddle sport education, exhibitions and competitions, to encourage physical activity and help address key health issues such as diabetes and coronary heart diseases.

Prior to supporting the purchase of the boats, Truckman also worked with the charity to give its backing to this year’s Nowka Bais, an iconic annual Bangladeshi boat race, which attracted thousands of visitors to Birmingham in July.

Established in 1997, CCF works with a number of private and public sector organisations to improve the social and economic wellbeing of disadvantaged communities by creating opportunities for people to improve their health, develop their skills and gain qualifications. The water sports initiative provides enjoyable activities for people from a diverse range of backgrounds, while increasing community engagement and physical activity.

Dudley-based Truckman, which manufactures and distributes a range of hardtops for pick-up trucks and 4x4 accessories for commercial markets in the UK and across Europe, often offers its support to community initiatives, having launched a charity support scheme for organisations, such as the RNLI, earlier this year.

Johur Uddin, Chief Executive Officer at Community Connect Foundation, said: “The donation we received from Truckman for the boats has been paramount to our success in increasing community engagement in water sports. Not only will the sponsorship benefit people’s health, it will enable us to arrange activities for people to enjoy regardless of their social and economic background.”

Mike Wheeler, Executive Chairman of Truckman, said: “Truckman is committed to supporting the local community, so I was delighted that we were able to benefit the Community Connect Foundation with this sponsorship. It was extremely rewarding to see the positive impact of the Nowka Bais competition in the summer, and we are looking forward to being involved in similar events in the future.”
