Black Country Chamber of Commerce Hosts Business Delegation from Karaman and Konya, Turkey

On Wednesday evening, the Black Country Chamber of Commerce hosted a reception for 15 officials from Karaman and Konya, Turkey, chaired by Black Country Chamber of Commerce President Ninder Johal. The delegation included the Governors and Mayors of Karaman and Konya along with representatives of their Chambers of Commerce.

Commenting on the meeting, Black Country Chamber of Commerce President, Ninder Johal said “There are many areas of common interest: metal casting, automotive parts and food and drink are sectors where we can really help each other.

“In September 2014 the Black Country Chamber of Commerce completed export documentation worth almost £1m for manufacturers wanting to export to Turkey.

“The meeting is an opportunity to extend our relationship and to create real value for businesses in the Black Country and in Karaman and Konya.”

“The Black Country Chamber of Commerce recently won the Excellence in International Trade Award at the British Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards. The Black Country Chamber International Trade team have helped companies secure over £40m in international sales so far this financial year and works continuously to help Black Country businesses to export and grow. The Black Country Chamber of Commerce is committed to help raise the value of exports in the region: it is part of our aim to double the size of the Black Country economy over the next ten years. Although the risks in exporting have increased in some parts of the world, there are significant opportunities for our home grown high quality niche providers to demonstrate what the Industrial Heart of the UK is capable of manufacturing.”

Alongside running the UKTI contract, the Chamber has been instrumental in developing a new Export Expert programme in partnership with the Black Country Growth Hub. The Export Expert programme is aimed at companies who need an extra resource for a short period of time to help boost their export activity. This programme is delivered in conjunction with the UKTI services so the company gets a tailored approach to their export needs.
