BCC: UK Trade Deficit Cause for Concern

Commenting on the revised UK GDP figures for Q3 2015, issued today by the ONS, Suren Thiru, Economic Advisor at the British Chambers of Commerce, said:

"Although the headline figure was unrevised, the substantial widening of the UK’s trade deficit is concerning. We are still a long way away from achieving a rebalancing of our economy. To achieve sustainable economic growth over the long-term, there needs to be a greater focus on fixing the fundamentals that hinder export growth, including greater access to finance for those firms looking to enter new markets.”
