It’s a Family Affair as whg Unveils Unique Development

Cardan PointeAn exciting new development of quality affordable homes for people over 55 has now officially opened in the heart of Walsall.

Customers have moved into leading landlord whg’s £5.5 million Cardan Pointe retirement living scheme on the newly regenerated Waterfront in the town centre.

With a stunning canal side location, Cardan Pointe boasts 44 stylish one and two bedroom apartments. It also offers a unique personalised wellbeing service which enables individuals to maintain their independence for longer.

And it is proving a real family affair, with customers from different generations recognising the benefits of this unique development.

Bill Reeves, aged 64, recently moved into one of the apartments with wife Karen, aged 59.

He said; “Karen’s mother was moving into Cardan Pointe and asked us to come along and have a look at her new place. We absolutely loved it and decided that it would be an ideal home for us too.

“We are obviously fairly young and Karen is still working but it is reassuring to know there will be more support available for us if we need it in the future.

“In the meantime we just love the great location, friendly neighbours and the design of the building.”

The development is aimed at people who want to stay living in their own home and keep active, but who may need some additional assistance, either now or in the future. It has communal space, including a kitchen where people can come together to socialize and offers an exciting mix of health, social and leisure activities for customers to take part in if they choose.

The wellbeing service provides customers with varying levels and types of support including access and signposting to other services, help to get out and about and stay active, advice on bills and assistance with money management.

whg has invested more than £4.4 million into the development, which also received more than £1 million in funding from the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA). Building works, which started in December 2014, were delivered in partnership with Jessup Brothers Ltd.

Clare Thomas, Head of Health and Wellbeing for whg, said: “Cardan Pointe is a flagship development offering stylish and contemporary accommodation, with valuable wellbeing support on hand if required. It will enable people over the age of 55 to live independently and enjoy life to the full.

“It is a unique development within Walsall and is the ideal affordable solution for people aged over 55 who are looking to downsize and free up capital in their later years.”

A further two purpose built wellbeing schemes are due to be completed by whg in 2017. Keelson Point in Leamore will offer 66 new homes and Ellum Pointe in Brownhills will offer a further 62.
