Black Country Employment Charity Invites New Trustees for Board

A2B 1A Black Country charity is inviting new trustees to join the board. Wolverhampton based Access to Business specialises in helping Black Country people into work or self-employment, by direct support or by improving skills through training. Their help and advice is aimed particularly at disadvantaged groups including people with disabilities or health problems. They also offer help and training to new and small businesses in the area.

Access to Business support over 1500 people into employment and self-employment per year.

Chair of the Board, Kath Rees said “We need new recruits and would particularly welcome applicants from the local business and professional community to broaden the skill base of the board especially in Finance, Legal and HR”.

Trustee Andrew King, an Associate Director and a surveyor from real estate consultants Cushman & Wakefield, said “I have been on the board for about 3 years having originally become involved with the work of the charity beforehand through my role as managing agent for the Mander Centre. It is very rewarding and is supported by my employer, Cushman & Wakefield, as it fits in well with their corporate social responsibility policy. We feel that it is important that businesses play their part in helping to support the communities that we work in and this is a great opportunity to do something worthwhile for anyone who feels that they could also contribute.”

Josie Kelly, Chief Executive said ‘“We are delighted to have been able to receive the new ESIF funding to secure the provision of our services for disadvantaged people in Wolverhampton and wider Black Country. We are now looking to recruit new trustees to join our highly skills and committed Board of Trustees to oversee and lead on the next phase of our work”.’
