Black Country Businesses Welcomed Mark Garnier MP to Discuss International Trade and Post-Brexit Britain

Mark Garnier MP Addresses Black Country BusinessesBlack Country Chamber of Commerce were delighted to host Mark Garnier MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for International Trade, on Friday 3rd February. Over 60 representatives from local businesses, the Black Country Chamber of Commerce and the Department of International Trade came together to discuss International Trade and post-Brexit Britain.

Mark Garnier MP, gave a highly informative opening presentation which covered the governments approach to trade support, the opportunities that Brexit might hold for the UK and some thoughts on how businesses who had never exported before could get involved.

This was followed by an excellent question and answer session where the businesses in the room were able to voice their views, concerns and future plans, with in-depth and insightful responses from Mark Garnier MP.

Another area that was highlighted was the Industrial Strategy Green Paper which has recently been released. Corin Crane, Chief Executive of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, commented: “We’ve got some of the best and most entrepreneurial businesses in the UK based in the Black Country and we need to make sure that the Industrial Strategy helps them grow wherever possible and also deals with major issues around skills and infrastructure.”
