Cushion the Pain with Sole Fat Transfer Surgery

Cushion The Pain With Foot Fat Transfer Surgery 2People who are suffering with pain on the bottom of their feet could benefit from fat transfer surgery at West Midlands Hospital.

Plastic Surgeon Mr Simon Wharton is a leader in the procedure and one of only a handful of consultants in the world currently performing it.

The surgery gives patients more padding on their foot soles, potentially reducing pain due to certain conditions and easing walking.

It can benefit patients who start experiencing more pain in their feet as they get older when the fat on feet soles reduces and feet become more exposed and have less padding for protection, a condition called fat pad atrophy.

This can also occur as a result of the surgical and non-surgical treatment of other conditions such as plantar fasciitis.

Mr Wharton can deliver this surgery privately at the Halesowen hospital and patients can meet with him for an initial consultation before proceeding to surgery quickly.

Mr Wharton said: “I’ve been doing this surgery for a number of years and it is a quick and easy procedure to hopefully reduce chronic pain in the sole of the foot.

“The pain which some people experience as they get older, or because they have other conditions, can be very debilitating and it can greatly affect their mobility.

“This surgery involves the transfer of fat tissue from the abdomen or hips to give people more padding on the soles of their feet which acts like a cushion and may improve the pain.”

Mr Wharton has been a plastic surgeon for 12 years and has clinics at West Midlands Hospital twice a month on alternate Wednesdays.

As well as the fat transfer surgery, he also specialises in the treatment of skin cancer.

West Midlands Hospital is one of the leading private hospitals in the Midlands region and provides a range of services including cosmetic surgery, spinal surgery, orthopaedic surgeries and eye treatments such as cataract surgery.
