Joe Pasquale Headlines New Shows on Sale at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre!

Joe Pasquale as Frank Spencer in Some Mothers Do Ave Em credit Michael Wharley 3A new season of shows including Joe Pasquale in the highly anticipated new stage adaptation of Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ’Em. Recent star of Strictly Come Dancing and comedy legend Brian Conley, Jane McDonald, Susie Blake and the highly acclaimed Punjabi singer/songwriter Satinder Sartaaj all star in the newly announced season.

Satinder Sartaaj returns after his sell-out success in 2016 on Friday 9th March. An outstanding poet and singer from India, he has mesmerised audiences across the world. From performing at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall to playing to crowds of over 50,000 in India, this amazing talent is set to grace the Grand Theatre stage once again.

Brian Conley - Strictly Come Laughing on Saturday 10th March see the multi- talented and irrepressible Brian Conley returns to the stage with his new show. Featuring brand new comedy, sketches and songs alongside some of his best-known material from stage and screen. Book now to see why Brian Conley remains one of this country’s most loved entertainers.

Sweeney Todd by Walsall Operatic Society from Tuesday 13th - Saturday 17th March is a new production of the musical unanimously acclaimed by the critics as one of Stephen Sondheim’s most powerful scores. This black comedy concerns the infamous homicidal career of Sweeney, the unjustly exiled barber who returns to 19th century London seeking revenge against the lecherous judge who coveted his young wife and falsely imprisoned him. Sophisticated, macabre, visceral and uncompromising, Sweeney Todd mixes intense drama with daring humour; audiences find themselves laughing one moment and gasping in surprise at the next. This is an amateur production.

Cloudbusting - The Music Of Kate Bush on Wednesday 21st March is a tribute that celebrates forty years since The Kick Inside announced to the world the genius of Kate Bush. Time and again since that remarkable debut, Kate has secured her place in music history with ground-breaking albums such as The Dreaming, Hounds of Love and Aerial. Her triumphant Before the Dawn shows at the Hammersmith Apollo sold out in minutes and changed perceptions of what a concert could be for ever. Influenced by none, influencing many, there is truly no other artist like her.

A Feast Of Gilbert & Sullivan on Sunday 25th March is an afternoon of music and merriment with former stars of the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company in the UK’s No 1 Gilbert and Sullivan concert. Join our soloists as they perform your favourite Gilbert and Sullivan songs in all their traditional glory backed by The British Philharmonic Orchestra, and entertain you with witty anecdotes of their time spent in the acclaimed D’Oyly Carte Opera Company. And of course, there will be the chance for you to join in and sing along too! Featuring selections from all of Gilbert and Sullivan Opera’s from Three Little Maids to Major General.

Cirque Du Hilarious - Magical Mischief Tour is back by popular demand on Sunday 1st April with the ‘Superstars of Slapstick’, Clive Webb and Danny Adams. Clive and Danny plan to amaze and delight you with their Magical Mischief Tour - a brand new exciting production for 2018 - a completely unique, fast paced, cirque style variety and comedy show, interspersed with magic, illusions, International circus acts, stunning professional dancers, and everyone’s favourite idiot, Michael Potts.

Peppa Pig's Adventure from Saturday 7th - Sunday 8th April sees Peppa Pig and friends back in the brand new live show! Join Peppa as she gets ready to go on an exciting camping trip to the woods with George and her school friends, including Pedro Pony, Suzy Sheep and Gerald Giraffe. With lunch-boxes packed and Daddy Pig driving the bus, Peppa and friends are excited about their outdoor adventure, full of games, laughter and live music! The happy campers soon settle down to sleep and listen to the gentle pitter patter of rain. Safe and warm inside their tents the excited group can look forward to morning time, when there will be lots of muddy puddles to play in!

But The People’s Theatre Company do! And now you can too as they bring one of the world’s best loved nursery rhymes to life just in time to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Pam Adams' best selling book! This magical show has been written especially for grown ups to enjoy with their children, so come and relive the delights of this most charming of tales complete with a feast of sing along songs, colourful animal characters and heart warming family fun. It’s the perfect treat for anyone aged 2 to 102!

“Oooh Betty!” Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ’Em starring Joe Pasquale, Sarah Earnshaw and Susie Blake from Tuesday 15th - Saturday 19th May.  Everyone’s favourite 1970s classic TV comedy, Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ’Em is back with Joe Pasquale starring as the loveable accident-prone Frank Spencer, Sarah Earnshaw as his wife Betty and Susie Blake as his disapproving Mother-in-Law, Mrs Fisher. The most successful sitcom of the decade gave us the hapless Frank and his long-suffering wife Betty with catch phrases galore and a never-ending list of disasters with roller-skating escapades and runaway chickens. Joe Pasquale is a national comedy treasure who exploded onto our tellies in New Faces and went on to win I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and host The Price is Right.

Pasha Kovalev The Magic Of Hollywood on Sunday 20th May sees Pasha Kovalev from Strictly Come Dancing and his fantastic dancers back again touring to Wolverhampton with their brand new show. Expect all your favourite dances, stunning costumes, great music, chat and fun for all the family. Pasha won Strictly Come Dancing with Caroline Flack in 2014 and has scored more 10's than any other professional dancer since the series began. This is your chance to watch him live!

We've Only Just Begun on Sunday 27th May is a celebration of the Carpenter’s music and the spirit of Karen Carpenter. Every song is brilliantly performed by vocalist Toni Lee, with her Big Band and singers. This high quality production also includes an audio visual presentation. A Grand Music Hall from Monday 4th - Tuesday 5th June will escort you back to the good old days of Music Hall as A Grand Music Hall returns for more good old fashioned fun and nostalgia. Star of the Grand Theatre’s pantomime, Ian Adams is your Chairman and he introduces our good old days line up, headlined by local favourite Don MacLean, alongside illusionists Van Buren and Allyson, songstress Julie Paton, pianist Guy Rowland and local theatre star Keith Minshull. Come dressed in your 'Good Old Days Attire'. There will be prizes for the best dressed!

The Ladyboys Of Bangkok - Wonder Women Tour returns to the Grand Theatre on Thursday 7th June so uncork the champagne! Dress to kill! Party like there's no tomorrow! The Ladyboys Of Bangkok - Wonder Women Tour will take Britain's number one cabaret show to a new level. Wonder Women celebrates in style with iconic appearances including Cher, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Diana Ross, Pink, Shirley Bassey, even Wonder Woman herself and the 'practically perfect in every way' Mary Poppins! The Glenn Miller Orchestra on Saturday 9th June is directed by Ray McVay and he’s ‘In the Mood’ as the world’s greatest Big Band presents the very best in Swing music with the Moonlight Serenaders and vocalists Catherine Sykes and Mark Porter. Featuring the energetic Swing Time Jivers and the Polka Dot Dolls singing the songs of the Andrews Sisters. All your Miller favourites are here for the whole family to enjoy.

The Hilarity Charity Gala on Tuesday 3rd July sees Wolverhampton’s biggest line up of comedians returns for a fifth night of laugh out loud comedy at the Grand. Previous years’ line ups have included some of the biggest names in British comedy, including Jon Richardson, Josh Widdicombe, Russell Howard, Greg Davies, Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan. Rhythm Of The Dance on Thursday 5th July is an Irish dance spectacular celebrating the very best of Irish culture in a two-hour dance and music extravaganza. Grimethorpe Colliery Band on Saturday 7th July at 7:30pm. Formed in 1917, during the First World War, Grimethorpe Colliery Band is a British institution. National and British Open Champions on numerous occasions, the band’s contest successes remain legendary. These include 16 Brass In Concert Championship titles, 11 times Yorkshire Regional Champions, two English National Championship victories, four times British Open Champions and four times National Champion Brass Band of Great Britain. Grimethorpe's diverse noted concert performances include those at the FIFA World Cup, BAFTA Awards, BBC Proms, Eurovision and London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, together with a wealth of national and international television and radio appearances and professional recordings. The band has been the recipient of two gold discs, as well as a BAFTA nomination for its contributions to the global hit movie Brassed Off.

Jane McDonald returns on Sunday 23rd September, she is one of the nation’s most loved entertainers came to our screens 20 years ago in the program The Cruise. Since then Jane has appeared as Grizabella in Cats and starred in many TV shows such as Loose Women, Star for a Night and Cruising with Jane McDonald. As a singer Jane has released platinum selling albums and toured with her own show, each year better than the last and this year is no exception. David Walliams’ Awful Auntie arrives in Wolverhampton following the phenomenal success of previous stage show Gangsta Granny. From Wednesday 26th - Sunday 30th September the story follows Stella, who sets off to visit London with her parents, Lord and Lady Saxby, she has no idea her life is in danger! Waking up three months later, only her Aunt Alberta can tell Stella what has happened. But not everything Alberta tells her turns out to be true and Stella quickly discovers she’s in for the fight of her life against her very own awful Auntie! From the award winning West End producers of Gangsta Granny comes the world premiere of David Walliams’ amazing tale of frights, fights and friendship, featuring a very large owl, a very small ghost and a very awful Auntie!

South Staffs Musical Theatre Company present Top Hat from Tuesday 9th - Saturday 13th October which brings the glamour of Hollywood's golden age and the glorious, tap-dancing magic of Fred Astaire's and Ginger Rogers' world-famous dance partnership to the stage. This 2011 musical based on the 1935 film of the same name, tells the story of Broadway sensation Jerry Travers who dances his way across Europe to win the heart of society girl Dale Tremont. An uplifting and entertaining romantic comedy celebrating 1930s song, style and romance, Top Hat features fourteen songs by Irving Berlin. These include some of his greatest hits such as Cheek to Cheek, Puttin' on the Ritz and Let's Face the Music & Dance. The London production of Top Hat won the 2013 Laurence Olivier Awards for Best New Musical, Best Costume Design and Best Choreography. This is an amateur production.
