Beanstalk are a national charity that provides one-to-one literacy support to children who struggle with their reading ability and confidence. They are currently looking for volunteers to help improve levels of literacy and numeracy amongst children across the Black Country.

As an organisation, Beanstalk have over 100 staff and almost 3,100 volunteers who carry out their work across England. However, as the Black Country has been identified as an area where 54% of children are currently below the expected standards in relation to reading and writing, they need to do a lot of work to enhance literacy and numeracy levels across the region.

Therefore, they are looking for volunteers from all walks of life, whether that be parents, grandparents, students, company volunteer schemes or people who have recently retired and perhaps have a little time to spare.

They have schools currently waiting in the Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton areas if you or anyone you know would like to get involved.

To become a Beanstalk volunteer, or for more information, please contact Michelle Searle on 01782 837375 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
