Leading Midlands’ landlord whg has launched a technology pilot to support vulnerable customers during the lock down.

 

Thanks to a grant from the 02 Transformation Fund, whg is ensuring digitally excluded customers can access the resources and comfort they need at this worrying time.

 

To date a total of 170 households identified as being digitally vulnerable have been issued with a new tablet, to help them get online, and access support and advice.

 

Dale Stewart, Black Country Click Start Project Manager, said: “Getting online can be the key to people’s wellbeing and safety, and during this difficult time can be the only way for some people to be part of the world around them.

 

“This project aims to support those customers who have no access to the internet and bring technology to families who may be struggling.

 

“The extra devices will also enable us to deliver our IT training courses out in the community, and support a range of digital support programmes.

 

“Feedback has been great and it is making a material difference to the lives of our customers, enabling them to manage their tenancies through our online portal as well as access employment and training opportunities and other support.”

 

whg also supports people to improve their digital and financial skills through the Click Start programme. Funded by the European Social Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund, the programme helps customers learn basic IT skills, how to navigate the internet and stay safe online.
