We discuss how to improve your online presence in 3 easy steps by ThinkCreative.

1. Google My Business & Google Reviews

Creating a Google My Business account is a must when trying to increase your business’ overall presence online. Google My Business allows you to create a FREE business listing which includes your business name, location, website, opening times and products. As Google is the most used search engine around the world, holding upwards of 92% of search results, it comes as no surprise that you and your business should be utilising the chance to appear in Google Search, Shopping and Maps.

In addition, a Google My Business account lets your customers leave reviews via Google Reviews. Having reviews for your business does not only displays your customer’s past experiences and your great service, but also builds trust with future clients.

There are a few requirements you’ll need to get started. Firstly, you need to have a physical business location such as a store or an office. Then you will need a Google Account which can be easily created by making a Gmail profile.

2. Social Media Presence

Having a Social Media presence in 2022 is a necessity when you’re trying to grow online. There are so many benefits that social media can bring to the table, so many, in fact, that we could write another 3 blogs about it, so we have listed the main “to do’s” below:

  • Decide on 1 or 2 social platforms to get started. Many businesses believe that they must be on every single platform to stand a chance of growing in the social media space. However, this causes a lack of consistency with content creation. Choose the social platforms you’re most comfortable with and are the most appropriate for your business e.g. Facebook and LinkedIn
  • Consistency. Creating content for your social posts can be seen as a tall order for many businesses, but it needn’t be! As well as posts you create yourself, consider sharing others’ posts that focus on key topics for your industry or upload a quick poll to provoke engagement with your social audience. Insights, trends and top tips relating to your sector also make for interesting reading and can easily be found by searching relevant hashtags.
  • Show Personality. Research shows that as well as visiting a company’s website, there is a large increase in users checking out social platforms to get a better understanding of the business persona. Your social accounts should show a sense of character alongside the more professional and serious posts. Create an identity that stands out from the industry standard and let your business shine from the rest. Share news from your team, staff profiles, team events or charity initiatives and help your audience to connect with your brand on a human level.

3. E-Mail Marketing

Your online presence isn’t only about being present on Google or visible on social platforms. Email campaigns can also be a hugely successful part of the business marketing mix.

Digital newsletters, offers and updates all make excellent subjects for email campaigns and provide a means of regular formal communication with your client base. Packages such as MailChimp provide a great free way to set-up and monitor your email campaigns with the ability to design and build custom templates as well as managing your customer client base all in one location.

Make The Most Of Your Website

You might think having a website trumps the points we’ve listed above, but having a site is only the start of the process! Having a strategy to drive traffic to your site is key to making sure you receive a return on your investment. All of the suggestions above not only give you a wider reach to potential customers, but they also allow you to channel those users towards your website where they can learn more about your brand, services and products. Make sure that your content is current by ensuring that blog posts are recent, your team list is accurate, your photographs show your latest projects and your prices are updated. And if you decide that it’s time for a website refresh, drop us a line and we’ll get you back on track!
