Albert Jagger are committed to building a sustainable future. With climate change posing an increasing threat to the planet, they have taken a bold step towards a greener future.

Celebrating 135 years of history, Albert Jagger have collaborated with Walsall Council to plant 135 trees in the borough. Having been an integral part of the Walsall community for over a century, they have marked this milestone with a meaningful initiative. Undertaking the responsibility of planting 135 trees to extend an existing piece of woodland, contributing to the preservation and expansion of Walsall’s future.

The trees have been carefully chosen for their environmental benefits and longevity. Among them are oak trees (Quercus robur), known to support more life forms than any other native forest. The selection of trees also includes silver birch (Betula pendula), rowan (sorbus aucuparia) capable of living up to 200 years and hazel (Corylus Avelina) with an 80-year lifespan.

Beyond celebrating their history, Albert Jagger continue to take significant steps in minimising the environmental impact of their operations. Trees play a crucial role in capturing greenhouse gases, and as forests globally face deforestation threats, these gases accumulate in the atmosphere, contributing to climate change. By planting new trees, we are actively contributing to the regulation of the climate and fighting against the adverse effects of global warming.

The urgency to combat climate change is evident. To achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the United Kingdom needs to increase woodland cover from 13% to at least 19%.
