Blackthorns Accountancy practice, based in Lye Stourbridge, chose The Cyrille Regis Legacy Trust as their Charity of the year for 2022 and got off to a fabulous start, raising over £4k at their Annual Charity Quiz Night, held at The Cradley Heath Sports & Social Club on Wednesday 18 May 2022.

They were supported by 27 teams on the evening consisting of many local businesses and contacts.

The Cyrille Regis Legacy Trust serves to honour and remember the life of Cyrille Regis MBE.

Led by Cyrille’s family after his passing in January 2018, the Trust set up 'The Strike a Change Mentoring Programme' which is a partnership with the six West Midlands Football Club Foundations.

The programme assists and supports young people aged 13-14 who are passionate about football and are considered to be disengaged in school or within their community.

The programme helps by bringing positivity and inspiration to their lives. Currently the Trust has 72 young people on the programme, both boys and girls.

Julia Regis, Chair for the Charity said, “I want to say a big thank you to Blackthorns for choosing us as Charity of the Year 2022. They have raised an amazing amount at their Quiz Night, which will go towards the Mentoring Programme and we are so grateful for the support from Blackthorns”.

Karen Turner, Managing Director at Blackthorns, said, “We are a dedicated team, supporting clients in the SME marketplace, in the Black Country and Worcestershire; and extremely passionate about supporting local Charites when we can, through various events and fund raising activities to help make a difference”
