Jerroms supports The Business School at Halesowen College with equipping learners to become work ready

See article, page 9: Halesowen College Employer Newsletter (Dec 2023)

The Business School at Halesowen College aims to ensure that our students are work ready when they have completed their studies with us.

Throughout their course, students have the opportunity to meet and listen to guest speakers from local business who come into college to deliver Business Workshops. These workshops have a wide scope and are aimed at giving students experience of real-life situations.

In the latest round of workshops, themed “Getting Learners Work Ready,” our year 2 BTEC Business Studies students heard from business leaders on topics including, how to prepare a quality CV, developing professional social media profiles and also got put through their paces during mock interviews.

All students find these workshops really useful as it gives them an insight into the world of business and the wider opportunities available to them.

“I really liked the interview part of the session as it helped to think what questions may come up in interviews. I also never realised how helpful LinkedIn can be to make connections.”

“It was a good opportunity to be interviewed by professionals from outside the college and receive feedback on my interview.”

We would like to thank the following organisations for supporting these sessions:

• Jerroms Accountants

• Midlands Truck and Van Ltd

• Cygna Training Services

• IP Consultancy

• Wondrous Digital Agency

If you would be interested in presenting to our Business Studies students or being a guest speaker within the department, please contact Kam Nijjar – Harkamaljit.nijjar@halesowen.ac.uk
