How a fuel management system can save your business money

With the cost of fuel increasing significantly, fleet operators are feeling the pressure more than ever to make savings where they can. Merridale offers a variety of solutions to enable any sized fleet to dispense, control and monitor fuel and fuel usage. Here are five ways that investing in a Merridale system can help your fleet cut its costs.

Fuel storage.  Can your business store and dispense fuel on your premises? This can attract a direct saving of more than 10% on every litre of fuel you order. The payback time from the initial outlay of buying a tank, pump, and fuel management system can be as little as 12 months, depending on how much fuel you use each year. With a Merridale tank package, your storage tank will be built to the highest standards and environmental specifications. Arriving as a fully enclosed solution and offloaded onto a suitable pre-prepared base with a power connection, your Merridale system comes ready to fuel your fleet. The process can be as easy as taking delivery of the tank and arranging a fuel delivery when Merridale will then commission the equipment and provide training on the software.

Time-saving.  Now that your fleet is fuelling onsite, precious time can be saved against them having to fuel up at offsite locations. By incorporating a top-spec fuel management system such as Merridale’s MX-I or MX-M you can also save a great deal of processing time by having fuelling data collected for you by the system and reported automatically to the right people. Merridale’s FuelWorks software has also been saving companies time and effort by producing automatic FORS reports to satisfy certain annual declaration requirements.

Tank management.  So, you’ve got your new onsite storage tank and fuel management system already starting to save you money and time as part of your fuel control process. Merridale’s tank management systems can further help to consolidate your fuel reporting by closely monitoring the stock in your tank. With low stock warnings, fuel stock prediction, and theft detection a Merridale MX-T not only helps to protect your valuable stocks but can also assist in maximising cash flow efficiency by ensuring that you are ordering the right amount of fuel at the right time. Merridale’s tank management systems are extremely accurate and when coupled with the impressive +/- 0.25% metering accuracy within Merridale’s heavy-duty pumps, a consolidated fuel and tank management system from Merridale can save fleet operators up to another 2 to 3% off their fuel bill. The more accurate your equipment/data, the more money you are likely to save.

Performance reporting.  Yes, Merridale’s fuel management software can help to monitor your fleet’s mpg performance too. The system can capture a vehicle’s odometer reading each time they fuel up onsite. This in itself brings multiple benefits. It can highlight any vehicle or potential driver performance and show if a vehicle needs to be brought in for maintenance or if a driver needs more training in efficient driving for example. FuelWorks mpg reports can highlight mpg anomalies via automatic exception reporting, allowing you to take action and potentially avoid costly maintenance or vehicle abuse.

Merridale care and protect.  Being the manufacturer of our equipment, we are best placed to look after it for you with our market-leading service contracts/extended warranty agreements and annual inspection and calibration visits. When you have purchased a new piece of Merridale equipment, you have invested in a system built to a very high standard and it will be highly accurate when it leaves the factory. To keep it in such condition, will mean that you continue to have the best possible fuelling information available (remember, the more accurate your data, the more money you save), whilst avoiding unexpected maintenance issues onsite. Other benefits of a robust Merridale aftercare programme include increasing the operating life of the system, improving system efficiency, and attracting discounts on other works outside the scope of cover which saves you even more throughout the life of the product.
