Elderly members of the community in Smethwick will be receiving hot meals over the Christmas period thanks to funding from commercial heating and ventilation specialist Lord Combustion Services.

In total 100 meals will be delivered by local charity St Albans Community Association to people at home during the festive season following support from Oldbury-based Lord Combustion Services.

Lord offered their support in recognition of the vital work which St Albans provides for older residents over Christmas and throughout the year.

Established in 1983, St Albans Community Association delivers against its vision of building a community “in which all are valued and respected where every resident has access to the information, support and quality services they need”.

Based in St Albans Road, Smethwick, St Albans provides a range of community services including activities and meals for older people, alongside dementia support services, welfare advice and OFSTED registered pre-school nursery activities.

Operations Manager Tammy Cleaver said: “Thank you to Lord Combustion Services for their support over Christmas, which is much appreciated as our team ensures we help as many people as possible with our meals service.

“As a charity we are incredibly grateful to all those who enable us to provide our services, with funding from donations playing an important part in allowing us to continue delivering inclusive and supportive services throughout the year.”

Managing Director Stuart Smith said: “We were delighted to help St Albans Community Association provide welcome hot meals for local elderly residents as we know what a positive difference their services make to so many people over the colder months.

“As a Black Country business we are always keen to support local charities in our community wherever we can and were pleased to fund the service over the Christmas period to ensure those who use the St Albans service are supported at this time of year.”

The meals support is the latest community activity by Lord Combustion Services, which won the Outstanding Support for the Armed Forces prize at last month’s Black Country Chamber of Commerce Business Awards for its work in providing job opportunities for service personnel.

The Lord team of nearly 50 staff serve more than 1000 customers across the West Midlands from their base in Dudley Road East, Oldbury.
