Introducing Lianne Wright

I am Lianne the Director of Wright Choice, and I started the business during Covid as an independent VA. I very quickly got to full capacity, and I didn’t want to turn people away as I could see the benefit, I was bringing to business owners, saving them time and money.

I registered the limited company in September 2021and began to build a team to increase our capacity. We have combined experience of over 20 years at senior management level. Our goal is to help business owners do what they do best, and we take care of the rest.

1. How has the perception of female entrepreneurs changed since you became a small business owner?

When I first started, I felt a little like a duck out of water, but my passion drove me to fight through this and now I do feel that women in business are getting the respect and recognition they deserve.

I do recall one male business owner saying to me how can you do this when you have children to look after, and I was so extremely insulted as I juggle running a business and being a mom very well. It’s the reason I started my own business so that I could be flexible around my family. I work with businesses that respect and appreciate the flexibility.

2. What kind of community support have you helped foster/received as a woman in business?

I have found a lot of support comes from other women in business, it’s a real driving force to connect with other women who are doing the same and can share their experiences.

3. What advice would you give young girls and women aspiring to start their own business?

Connect with other women who have started their own business, it’s so inspiring to hear other people’s journeys. Bottom line - just do it and enjoy the challenges that come along the way as it will empower you and inspire others that follow you.
