The Black Country Chamber of Commerce speaks to the Managing Director of Lord Combustion Services.

In our latest Ready for 2024 interview, Stuart Smith, Managing Director at heating and ventilation specialist Lord Combustion Services, says that his business is looking forward to helping more clients roll out energy-efficient solutions to reduce their carbon footprint and save money.

As the region returns to work, the Black Country Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the companies looking forward to building success in 2024.

As part of Ready for 2024, we are profiling members who are ready to deliver on their exciting plans during the 12 months ahead.

Each day we are featuring member firms, ranging from start-ups to large companies, on the Chamber website and social media channels to get their views on the opportunities ahead during the next year.

Stuart says that Lord Combustion Services will continue to make use of the company’s membership of the Black Country Chamber by taking advantage of networking opportunities and new business connections.

What will your business be focussing upon in 2024?

We would like to see business at Lord continue to grow. A big focus for our customers is energy efficiency and sustainability, so this will continue to be at the heart of everything we do in 2024. We will continue to roll out more environmentally friendly solutions to help clients reduce their carbon footprint and save money, whether that means making energy efficiency improvements to existing heating systems or implementing new ones.

What are your hopes for the Black Country economy and its businesses in 2024?

We hope to see more investment in the area, which will help to create jobs and opportunities for businesses to expand. Hopefully new investment zones and infrastructure improvements will attract new businesses and support the growth of new industries.

Why will the Black Country be a great place to do business in the 12 months ahead?

The Black Country is an industrial powerhouse that will continue to be pivotal to the UK’s economy. There are lots of small and medium-sized firms like ours keen to innovate and supply pioneering products and services.

What will you use your Chamber membership for in the year ahead?

We would like to continue to take advantage of networking opportunities and new business connections that may come from these. It is always great to be able to talk to other businesses in the area and share best practice. We have won three awards at the Black Country Chamber Business Awards in the past three years, including the 2023 Outstanding Support for the Armed Forces award, which brings recognition which we value as a company which has operated in the region since 1982.

What do you hope will happen for the UK economy as a whole?

It would be great to see some growth in the UK economy in 2024 and businesses feeling more optimistic. Working in heating installation, one of the big factors affecting our clients at the moment is energy prices, so it would be good to see these stabilise.
