Lord Combustion Services to exhibit at top education event the Schools & Academies Show

Leading commercial heating and ventilation specialists Lord Combustion Services are to exhibit their work for education sites at top sector event the Schools & Academies Show next month.

As Oldbury-based Lord Combustion Services celebrate their 40th anniversary, the team will make their debut at the Schools & Academies Show Birmingham when it returns to the NEC on Thursday 17th November.

Launched in March 1982, with a team of 45 engineers and support staff, Lord support more than 1000 sites across the Midlands, including 300 schools and hundreds of health sites.

At the Schools & Academies Show they will be showcasing Lord’s projects in secondary schools include modernising heating and hot water systems. 

Lord Managing Director Stuart Smith said the team were pleased to join the list of exhibitors for the event, which claims “no other show in the UK boasts such a senior audience of school leaders, decision makers and innovative education suppliers”.

The Schools & Academies Show organisers say: “Our unmissable show places thousands of school leaders, decision makers and education suppliers all under one roof to discuss the biggest challenges facing the education sector and source innovative solutions.”

When a West Midlands secondary recently wanted to modernise their system, Lord passed the test to deliver high quality results.

The co-educational secondary school and sixth form, which has capacity for more than 1000 pupils, needed specialist engineering expertise to retro-fit a new system around their timetable and to a high standard of work.

Lord introduced a modern, energy efficient heating system, utilising air source heat pumps to bring the site up to date and replace a set-up which had been in place for more than 30 years. The work needed to be conducted during the winter months while the school was operating as normal. 

The experienced team at Lord delivered a successful installation which gives greater efficiency and zonal control while ensuring there was temporary heating and a hot water plant to serve all requirements within the school, including the swimming pool.

Last year Streetsbrook Infant & Early Years Academy in Solihull brought in Lord to refurbish their heating and hot water system.

With 230 pupils aged three to seven, Lord Combustion Services were enlisted to introduce a modern, efficient heating system to bring the site up to date.

With the work conducted during school holidays to fit in around term-time usage, Lord delivered a successful installation which gives greater control and zonal optimisation.

Operating from its base in Dudley Road East, Oldbury, Lord signed up to the West Midlands Net Zero Pledge after being visited by Mayor Andy Street in April, having won three awards last November.

They won two 2021 Black Country Chamber of Commerce Awards, the service business of the year prize along with Emma Tibbetts winning director of the year, as well as the sustainability trophy at the West Midlands Business Masters Awards, organised by regional news website Business Desk.
