The Black Country Chamber of Commerce speaks to the Director of Plum Ideas.

In our latest Ready for 2024 interview, Brendan O’Dea, Director at marketing communications agency Plum Ideas, says his company will be focusing on growth in the coming months.

Each day we are profiling member firms, ranging from start-ups to large companies, on the Chamber website and social media channels to get their views on the opportunities ahead this year.

Having recently marked their 25th anniversary, the team at Plum Ideas believe that the Black Country is a great place to do business, says Brendan, with lots of opportunities for growth in the region thanks to its “strong sense of community and collaboration”.

What will your business be focussing upon in 2024?

Plum Ideas will be focusing on growth over the next 12 months. We have been a Black Country business for 25 years and despite some of the most difficult trading conditions in the past few years, we have managed to grow and expand the business during this period. Throughout 2024 we will be constantly looking at ways in which we can provide added value services for our existing clients whilst at the same time developing new areas where we know we can make a difference.

What are your hopes for the Black Country economy and its businesses in 2024?

Continued partnerships between businesses of all sizes and in all sectors, government and other stakeholders that pave the way for successful joint ventures and knowledge sharing. Collaborative research projects, shared infrastructure developments, and joint marketing initiatives that propel the entire region forward.

Why will the Black Country be a great place to do business in the 12 months ahead?

The Black Country will continue to be a great place for creative agencies to do business in the coming 12 months, as it fosters a strong sense of community and collaboration enabling businesses to come together to support each other fuelling creativity and impactful campaigns. The Black Country also boasts a strong and diverse workforce with expertise in both traditional and emerging industries, making it a very attractive location for businesses looking to expand or relocate.

What will you use your Chamber membership for in the year ahead?

The Chamber offers a wealth of resources that Plum will continue to tap into, as and when we feel we need additional support and advice. But we will also be using our membership to support the events and initiatives the Chamber runs to aid businesses in the region, as well as attending the many networking and new business opportunities available throughout the year.

What do you hope will happen for the UK economy as a whole?

To be successful businesses of all sizes, be they small, medium or large, need an economy that is stable and resilient, and which encourages innovation and provides opportunities for growth. Over the next 12 month the emphasis must be on providing businesses with our region with the right conditions and support for them to develop and grow.
