A director of leading specialist provider of water safety services and products Nant appeared on the BBC TV evening news to give views on Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng’s mini-Budget announcement.

Technical Director Richard Deakin represented Wolverhampton-based Nant on the BBC One programme to give his reaction to plans to include his home city in a new low tax investment zone, which would see planning laws potentially relaxed, stamp duty abolished and companies given the green light to ‘write off’ investments in industry.

Richard joined a panel of representatives of companies from the University of Wolverhampton Science Park, where Nant recently moved, who gave their responses to the proposal to include Wolverhampton in plans to stimulate business growth.

In the TV appearance on Friday (September 23), Richard welcomed the plans but added: “The Government have taken the measures they needed to do. It is just a matter of time now to see whether their strategy works.”

The BBC TV news team featured Wolverhampton, interviewing people working in large and small companies, to report on the local reaction to the Government plans to provide incentives.

The plan for investment zones across the UK was included in the new Chancellor’s mini-Budget, which saw the basic rate of income tax cut to 19p, the 45% top rate of tax for higher earners abolished, the threshold for raised, a cap on bankers’ bonuses is lifted and an increase in National Insurance reversed.

Having grown to 52 staff Nant relocated to Wolverhampton Science Park from Bilston last month.

Over the last 12 months Nant, whose clients include leading care home groups as well as well-known retail and leisure brands, have grown revenues and profits while introducing new tech-based services and delivering consistently high standards of work throughout the pandemic.

Established in 1994 to provide top quality service in legionella control, Nant provide innovative systems to ensure water supplies for clients across the UK are as safe and secure as possible.

Following a successful period of continued growth, Nant are up for the Black Country Chamber of Commerce awards for Excellence in Tech & Innovation, Small Business of the Year and Business Commitment to the Community, to be announced next month.
