Osborn Communications has delivered a workshop on public relations for start-up businesses to help them grow their audience reach.

The Press & PR Start-Up Workshop was held on 14 March at the Black Country & Marches Institute of Technology.

Organised with the Black Country Chamber of Commerce Start-Up Business Club, which turned five in December, the free event enabled delegates to better understand how to promote their business through media and public relations.

Osborn Communications produces successful digital, PR and marketing work for a range of leading West Midlands brands.

The agency, which was crowned 2021 Chamber start-up business of the year, offered practical insights on a range of topics including:

  • How a small business can get themselves in the media
  • What makes a good press release, including how to write your news
  • How to share your news via the Chamber channels including Prosper magazine and what kind of stories are attractive to the editor
  • Applying for awards to get recognition for your company

Black Country Chamber of Commerce Start-up Business Manager Alison Trinder said: “Thank you Osborn Communications for delivering this PR workshop, which was very much enjoyed by the members of our Start-Up Business Club.

“From expert guidance on press releases to website content, awards and social media, it delivered invaluable information that will help small business owners find new ways to promote their companies.

“It was a great reminder that all businesses, from the largest to the smallest, can benefit from telling a positive story, and I look forward to seeing all of the attendees promoting their successes across the region and beyond.”

Osborn Communications was recently appointed as the Chamber’s communications partner to promote its impact in the region.

The Osborn team are handling press and public relations work, promoting the Chamber as a positive membership group for Black Country businesses while celebrating member success stories.

Osborn is producing Chamber news to be shared via its website and social media, member channels such as emails and through liaising with external media.
