Climb Mount Snowdon to raise funds for Wolves' official charity

Fans who take on the ‘Snowdon by night’ challenge to raise funds for Wolves Foundation will be joined by Wolves Records’ first signing Reepa and prominent club personnel.

Wolves’ general manager of marketing and commercial growth Russell Jones and equality, diversion and inclusion manager Gurpri Bains are also donning the walking boots for the trip up the highest mountain in England and Wales under the cover of darkness.

Organised by CharityChallenge.com, the opportunity to trek under the starry skies of Snowdonia and into morning, a practical example of Wolverhampton’s motto Out of Darkness Cometh Light – offers a fantastic experience to build character and teamwork whilst also supporting the Foundation.

“I’ve climbed Snowdon once before, but not at night, so I’m buzzing to be able to do this, especially with the treat at the end of being up at the top to enjoy the sunrise,” said Reepa.

“And it’s all for such a great cause in Wolves Foundation.

“It will be good to connect with people I haven’t met before, and people can tell each other their stories and help each other to the top.

“Who knows, you might even come back down the mountain with a new best friend.

“I may also be offering piggy backs for anyone who is struggling, though only for a couple of minutes at a time!”

Russell added: “I’ve been lucky enough to climb Snowdon a few times before, but never at night, so this will be a completely new experience.

“Having done it as a teambuilding exercise a few years ago, where people had different ability and fitness levels but were encouraging and helping each other, getting to the top gave everyone a real sense of achievement.

“I’m really excited and looking forward to it, especially as all the funds raised will go to support our own with the Foundation’s projects across education and health.

“As members of staff, that is a cause we are always really keen to support, and we would encourage fans to do likewise.”

The trek takes place on Saturday, August 26th into Sunday, August 27th, with participants supported all the way by the organisers’ experienced mountain leaders, as well as benefitting from a great team environment.

“Our ethos at Wolves of ‘One Pack’ is about more than just staff, it is about all the people who are associated with the club,” says Gurpri.

“This challenge will offer a great chance for everyone involved to get together to chat, get fit and meet new people.

“I’ve never climbed Snowdon before and I’m also asthmatic, which shows that the challenge is open to people of all different fitness levels.

“It’s all about pacing ourselves, staying together and supporting each other, and we will get through it to ensure the fantastic reward of seeing the sunrise at the end.”

Wolves Foundation are aiming to raise £5000 from the challenge, which will be directed to help the club’s official charity deliver over 40 projects to people of all ages and abilities.

All participants must pay a non-refundable registration fee of £40 and raise funds for Wolves Foundation. For further enquiries, please contact Carla Hentsch – carlahentsch@wolves.co.uk.
