The Black Country Chamber of Commerce launches a competition to illuminate their Business Awards and showcase the creative talent of Black Country businesses.

Are you a creative individual or business based in the Black Country? Do you have an eye for design?

The Black Country Chamber of Commerce launches a competition to light up the tables on the night of their annual business awards – Thursday 9th November at Wolverhampton Racecourse.

As the region’s most established business awards, this competition is looking for entrants who can deliver a creative and eye-catching table centre decorative piece. Your talent for design could play a big part in making the Awards look spectacular!

Sarah Moorhouse, Chief Executive of the Black Country Chamber said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals, established or start-up businesses to showcase their creativity at the region’s leading Business Awards. We’re encouraging students, amateurs, and professionals alike to get involved.”

There will be five winners of the competition, displaying their design across ten tables on the night. Their design will feature across the Chamber’s social media channels as well as being acknowledged during the awards.


Rules of the Competition

Produce a table centrepiece that is attractive and practical that illuminates through artificial light. Five winners will be selected to produce ten table centres each and the design must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Should not obscure sight lines; be stable and self-supporting
  • Base to be no wider than 20cm (square or round)
  • Height to be no more than 90cm, and no lower than 70cm
  • To be illuminated (LED preferably)
  • Battery operated
  • Base to be weighted, i.e. not top heavy
  • Structure should not exceed 20cm in width at any point apart from the top which should not exceed 25cm
  • Materials used to be fire retardant to conform to fire safety regulations


How to enter:

Register your interest with Hayley Hall as soon as possible but before 31st August 2023.

You must submit your design by email to HayleyHall@blackcountrychamber.co.uk by 5pm Friday 15th September 2023.

Judging will take place week commencing 18th September with successful entrants being notified by Friday 22nd September 2023.

Please note: Successful candidates must be able to provide ten pieces of their design at no financial charge to Black Country Chamber of Commerce and each will be inspected and tested week commencing 30th October.
