This Saturday, Pipers will lead Vintage Military Vehicles through Stourbridge Town Centre in support of the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal.

Stourbridge Shuttle Driver, David Spruce, has organised a military vehicle parade which will see around 25 military vehicles travel through Stourbridge Town Centre on Saturday, November 12.

The procession will start at 11:00 am at the top of the High Street and the vehicles will finish up at The Bonded Warehouse in Canal Street, where they will be on display until 15:00 pm.

David and his friends had for many years displayed their military vehicles in the town by the clock to raise funds for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

The display, however, has not taken place for a few years since the space was allocated to a trader and then the Covid pandemic struck.

This year, David decided it was time to get the display up and running again and bring it to life. The parade will be led by pipers from the Shirley Pipe Band.

He will also be showcasing his own 1939 Matchless Motorcycle from the Second World War.

David said: “Stourbridge has had to cancel so many events since the COVID pandemic, I wanted to bring our show to life and give back to the community.

“One of the highlights will be the Abbott Tank which will be heard long before it arrives with its huge engine and noises.

“Once the vehicles have gone through the town they will go to The Bonded Warehouse where they will park up for a few hours so that anybody who would like to get up close to them can talk with the owners.

“There will be a few official rolling road closures in place to accommodate the parade but once it is through the roads will be fully reopened.”

Stourbridge Shuttle operator, Pre Metro, is sponsoring the parade. Head of Operations, Andy Merrell, said: “We are proud to support Dave in bringing his show to life.

“His regular charity work for both the Royal British Legion and West Midlands Air Ambulance as well as his friendly work ethic is a credit to the company.”
