BBC Children in Need visit Compton Care and discover the impact of our Children and Young People's service.

Over the last year Lusia, our Children and Young People’s Support Worker, helped by a team of volunteers, has supported more than 100 children and young people, as well as their families. Lusia has also delivered 42 one-to-one sessions of emotional support with children and young people both in school and on site at the Hall in Compton. The team deliver monthly workshops designed to support emotional well being, reduce feelings of isolation and encourage children and young people to build positive, supportive peer relationships within a caring and nurturing environment at a very difficult time in their lives. The workshops have included visits from the Animal Man, memory making activities and well being sessions hosted by Compton’s own Complementary Therapy team. The team have also arranged family picnics, days out and visits to the theatre.

The Service was recently visited by Helen Wilson, Impact Officer at BBC Children in Need, who was keen to see the impact the funding has in the community. Helen visited Compton’s Easter Egg Hunt event and said: “It was great to see first-hand the real difference Lusia and the Children and Young People Service are making, not only to the children but in the support that they offer the whole family.”
