Goldilock, a hardware cybersecurity start-up based in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, has been named a finalist in the UK’s Most Innovative Cyber SME 2023 competition, hosted by The Department of Science, Information and Technology (DSIT) and Infosecurity Europe.

Goldilock, a pioneering hardware cybersecurity start-up based at the University of Wolverhampton Science Park, has been distinguished as a finalist in the prestigious UK's Most Innovative Cyber SME 2023 competition.

The shortlist was unveiled by The Department of Science, Information and Technology (DSIT) and Infosecurity Europe, the leading information security event, on May 15, 2023.

The competition aims to highlight the most innovative micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in the cybersecurity arena.

Goldilock's unique solution, a multi-patented device, empowers users to remotely connect or disconnect any network or device anywhere in the world without relying on the internet.

This novel offering provides robust protection against current and emerging cybersecurity threats, demonstrating Goldilock's commitment to innovation in the sector.

This recognition follows a string of accolades for the Wolverhampton-based start-up, including the Barclays Start-up Award in 2022 and being named a winner in one category and a finalist in three categories at the West Midlands Tech Awards 2022.

These awards underscore Goldilock's significant contributions to the cybersecurity landscape and further establish their position as a trailblazer in the field.

The DSIT and Infosecurity Europe competition, now in its eighth year, has shortlisted 14 of the most innovative and creative information security businesses across the UK. The winners will be unveiled at the Infosecurity Europe 2023 event, set to take place on 20-22 June 2023 at ExCeL London.

Stephen Kines, COO and co-founder of Goldilock, expressed his enthusiasm about the recognition: "It is excellent to be recognised for the investment we have made in innovation. As the only UK hardware cybersecurity innovator that builds an appliance from scratch, finding investors willing to back us is very challenging, but this provides a halo effect."

Kines emphasised the critical importance of Goldilock's solution in today's climate of increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. The company's focus on dynamic physical network segmentation offers a potent defence, especially for industrial control systems.

The recognition celebrates Goldilock's strides as a start-up combating substantial cybersecurity issues and enhances its visibility and credibility during international expansion.

Nicole Mills, Exhibition Director at Infosecurity Group, highlighted the DSIT competition's importance in promoting ongoing innovation in the industry.

She said, "As threats continue to evolve, technology must keep pace, and these finalists have demonstrated their capability to bring to market new and advanced technologies built to tackle the cybersecurity challenges of the future."

The Most Innovative Cyber SME award offers finalists increased industry visibility and a platform to demonstrate solutions. Past winners have experienced substantial success and growth following their recognition.

Goldilock eagerly anticipates the opportunity to participate in the Cyber Innovation Zone at Infosecurity Europe 2023 and showcase its revolutionary technology to the global cybersecurity community.
