The Situationally Intelligent Director
18 Jan 2022 17:00 - 18:00

Directors are responsible for navigating their organisations into the future and must be prepared to contribute to a wide range of issues. The Situationally Intelligent Director develops an inquisitive nature, with their curiosity often extending beyond their own areas of expertise.
- They recognise that the challenge is to develop the capability to be ‘fit for the future’ and strive to keep themselves current and relevant in a changing world.
- They consider how emerging issues may impact the success of the organisations they lead.
- They are connected to other leaders and boardrooms, to emerging best practices, to external ideas and experiences.
Situational Intelligence is the Directors’ ability to develop approaches based on a clear understanding of their strategic context, their objectives, the people they must engage with and their own strengths, potential and reputation. The season end Formula 1 coverage referred to this intelligence as ‘driver nous’ – practical intelligence.
For this interactive session we are joined by Anna Bateson, Founder of business consultancy Cutting Through The Grey and co-author of the Situational Intelligence Reference Model. Anna facilitates our Business Effectiveness Programme, exploring the issue from the organisation, board and director’s perspective. She believes that curiosity is an essential tool for Leadership, Governance and organisational success. Our conversation will encourage you to reflect on your own situation as a director and your intentions and priorities for 2022.
